Family and friends!
Well sorry for the short email last week. We climbed a
mountain and we didn't get back until late but we did learn a lot from the
trip. We learned how we need to plan better for our trips and plan for extra
time if something goes wrong. I learned a lot and I really thought a lot about
when Jesus Christ created the earth. In this hike it took us 4 hours. In these
4 hours there were so many amazing views that I can't describe and even my
camera can't give enough detail on how it really looked. Also, when we got
their to the waterfall at the top, the air felt really nice! It wasn't hot at
all! and it wasn't cold, but supposedly it rains up there a lot! and the crazy
thing is that Chalia is part of our area and missionaries have never been there
and there are 500 people who live there and there is only one church that is
there within the 500 people! So this week we are going to go there and see how
the work is!
Well I will send my email again from last week because it
didn't go through... sorry about that.
But on the bright side, I'm safe, happy and still working
hard! Haha! So this last week we got to watch general conference and
unfortunetly I had to watch it in Spanish again...well it's cool to hear it in
Spanish and I understood it, but the thing is that the emotion isn't their from
the speaker. I wanted to really just hear the voice of the apostles bear solemn
testimony of what they know to be true. Well, so I will be rereading every talk
in Engish when the Liahonas come to us and really share my personal thoughts
with you guys.
But the best thing that happened this week was that I got to
read the biography of President Packer in the Liahona that came out like 2
months ago... ya we just recieved it...but there was a quote in there that
really hit me and I don't have the quote exactly word for word, but it's
talking about the way Elder Packer talked with god, "When you need a vote,
you will have mine, and you won't need to take anything away from me, because
all I have and everything I am, is yours." I know it isn't exactly what it
says and I'm really bad at requoting what people say but I love the last part
he says. He says that God doesn't need to take anything away, because
everything he owns and everything he is, is of the lord and that Elder Packer
was willing to give everything he had to the lord. This example of his
devotion, willingness, and selflessness has played a huge role in this last
week as I have really pondered and thought about what we should be able to give
to the Lord and he asks for everything. He asks that we are completely devoted
to him, and even being completely devoted to the Lord doesn't mean that we
don't go to work or don't study, but that in every thought, every action and
every moment, we need to make sure if we are doing the right thing, if we
aren't, we need to change, but if we are, there are so many blessings in store
for us.
I love you guys and have a good week!
Elder Flygare
