Hey family and friends,
This week has been a little bit hard with the work. It's
normal to have a bad week after last week was an excellent week. So last week
we had 21 new investigators, 15LCM 17 others! It was an awesome week but as we
know satan doesn't want it like that so he continues to harden the hearts of
the people and tell them that they dont need to go to church. But the best thing
about this week was that Elder Russell M. Nelson came to El Salvador... haha!
He had plans to come here to Guatemala but right now, he said that it's not
wise for us missionaries in Guatemala to all be in one place. I think he felt
that because right now there are elections for president of Guatemala and
during these last 3 weeks there has been so much propaganda and advertisements.
So I am always hearing about the candidates and the groups of people. So I know
almost all the big groups, but everyone here bashes on every other group. We
try to stay out of the conversations when they start to talk about that stuff.
Other than that we heard from Elder Russell M. Nelson on
Friday and unfortunately the video cut off and we didn't see the whole thing,
but the good thing is that I felt that eveything that we heard is what we
needed to hear to help us in our areas. What I liked is that first Elder
Alonso, (the one I met about 2 months ago): really focused on our purpose as
missionaries and how we always no matter what, we need to invite. We will hear
5 million times "no" in the mission but when we hear "yes"
thats what counts and we will be happy and excited.
Elder Ochoa, shared a story about his honeymoon (luna de
miel) and said that on their honey moon they had the desire to give away a Book
of Mormon, and to really help someone understand the importance of it. They
gave the book away and left their address in the book so if the guy needed
something, then he could send a letter with questions. So then they recieved a
letter 3 or 4 months later and the guy read the Book of Mormon and also was
baptized and knew that this book was really written by his ancestors.
and elder nelson: said that we shouldn't marry someone if
they dont love God more than us.
just that...
haha jk he talked on how much power we have as missionaries
and the potencial that we have to help these people. That we need to help
everyone realize that this doctrine that we share is the doctrine of Christ,
it's not the doctrine of Joseph Smith or of Mormon, but of Christ, the one and
only Savior of the world. He stated,
"the other churches really don't understand completely what the atonement
is." We as missionaries need to help our investigators understand the
atonement. Then when they understand the atonement they will understand our
message.
love you guys!
Elder Flygare
