June 15th

Dear family and friends,

Well this week has been full of blessings and challenges, this week I have started to feel sick with the flu and also on Saturday I was in the house the whole day, because my stomach was killing me and also my throat. But I overcame that and on Sunday I was back to work! We had the great opportunity on Sunday to have Elder Alonso from the presidency of the area! and from the first quorom of the seventy. He was there to only attend church with us but he didn't talk to us. But the church was way different, all of the kids were behaving, everyone was sitting up front, and he brought a more powerful spirit to the sacrament meeting. But the best thing was that we finished church, and we were about to leave and he was in the hall and he shook our hands and he just stopped and looked at us for like 10 seconds and didn't say anything, but then started to smile, and he told us, (translated) "It's a pleasure to meet you guys and see you guys. You guys reflect very well, your strength and power as missionaries. I can see that you guys are special spirits of our Heavenly Father".  In this moment, I can't express all the feelings I had and the spirit that was there with every word he said. Sometimes, I feel like we aren't having a ton of success but when Elder Alonso said those words, I felt that he knows, and God knows that we are giving it our all. We are trying hard and maybe the blessings prepared for us is that we won't we baptising the people here, but we are preparing them.

One scripture that I loved this week, it's in 2 nephi 33:15 "Thus hath the lord commanded me, and I MUST obey". At times it feels like the lord has commanded somethings that are super hard for us, maybe to show our love for everyone, maybe to always read the scriptures, but if we have the real attitude of obedience, we will always obey, with a willing and open heart. I know that as I have been called to serve here in Guatemala, I will serve because of my love that has grown tremendously for the Lord and for his commandments and because I must obey his call.
