March 28 2016

Hey family and friends!

First I would like to thank everyone for your emails and also for the support that I am recieving as a missionary and especially all the support that I have recieved in these last 19 months!

I can't believe another month has passed by and for another month I have had the opportunity to share the most important message in the world! I am grateful that it is a world tradition that we can celebrate something so important as the sacrifice that the lord made for us and also for the miracle that happened as he was resurrected. I am indebtfully grateful for everything he has done for me and continues to do so that I can be happy and that I can bring this happiness to the lives of the people here in Guatemala! On this special weekend that we have to celebrate Easter and to bring another person unto Christ through the covenant of baptism, we had the opportunity to baptize another person this weekend and help them recieve the holy ghost to enter the kingdom of god!

I'm grateful for all the blessings that I have recieved and for everyone that I have come to know in this area!

So this week we completed the goal of the mission for the 4th week in a row and we had two baptisms this month!!

The windows of heaven are really opened and are pouring out the blessings that we have longed for in this area as a companionship.

So this week I had the opportunity to read in 2 Nephi chapter 1 verse 15:15 But behold, the Lord hath redeemed my soul from hell; I have beheld his glory, and I am encircled about eternally in the arms of his love."

Since his resurrection we have had the chance to be eternally loved and encircled by his arms, when we come unto Christ we can feel of this love that we don't have to continue in sin, that we don't have keep making the same mistakes, and that we can become better. I love the Savior's words in 3 Nephi 12 verse 3:3 Yea, blessed are the poor in spirit who come unto me, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Those who have desires to come unto him and who are poor in spirit or in other words, the willingness to abandon and confess sins, will obtain the kingdom of god!
I love you all and hope that you guys can have a great week!

I love you guys!

March 21, 2016

Hey family and friends!

How have you guys been doing!?
This week has been great for us! We have been throwing fire! (not really throwing fire but its an expression to say that we are having a lot of success!)

I am so grateful for all that the members are doing for us! We are seeing miracles in our area and especially with our investigators! We are going to have a baptism next week and we are going to have like three in April! We are seeing so many blessings and seeing so many people that are happy when we pass by!

This week we had the opportunity again to accomplish the goal of the mission in the week. Now we have accomplished the goal of the mission 3 weeks in a row and we are going to have 2 baptisms this month!

Each week we are seeing the blessings of our work and we keep returning to our house more and more tired each and every day! I don't know if its of having 18 in the mission but I just know that I am always super happy for all the work that we are doing each day!

This last week we had an activity on Saturday for the whole ward and it was awesome to see that the members invited like 12 people to come to the activity with them! Even though some people were only there to eat the food... but some were there to learn more about the church!

Well, so our baptism this week should be our investigator named Elena! She is 15 years old and has a problem with speaking. She has a problem with her tongue and it stops her from speaking. She can hear and answer by moving her head up and down to answer the questions that we have for her, but the coolest thing is that she is always happy! She is always smiling and she's super humble. She comes from a family that doesn't have anything. They don't have running water in thier house and they don't have lights either. Her family are natives to Guatemala and her mom knows another language and she wears corte!

Well that's all for this week!

Love you guys!

Hey family and friends!

Well I would like to refresh your minds that last week we were hoping on having a baptism and we didn't, but this week he was baptized! His name is Manuel Morales! He is 26 years old and he is so dedicated to keeping the commandments! He was our investigator that paid tithing 3 weeks before he was baptized! It has been a pure blessing to be able to find him, teach him and baptize him! He said that after he was baptized that night he went to his house at like 9:30 or 10 (because the baptism was at 8) and he said that he went to bed and never in his life had he slept more peacefully. He was so happy that he was baptized on Saturday and confirmed on Sunday!

Also, this week we saw so many blessings in our work this week! We had the opportunity to find 17 new people to teach, we have 2 new baptismal dates for the 26 of March and we also contacted 160 people in the whole week! We have planned to have 3 baptisms on the 26th of March, but it is almost for sure that we are going to have at least 1 and maybe 2 others!
This week we had 3 people in sacrament meeting and we are seeing a lot of progress in the ward and in our area! It been great to be here to really help this ward and to also help our investigators porgress to be baptized!

So this week I have been studying in Lucas and I like one verse that I read that the savior said, Lucas 4:18
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised"

We as missionaries, are his servants and everything we do we are representing him as we teach and as we talk, we need to speak and teach in the manner of Christ. We are really his hands in this work and as his hands I will work in the best way that I can to be like him.

Also this week I was reading in proverbs 4:23-26
23 "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.  24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. 26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established."

Our eyes need to be looking on what we desire in our lives and according to our personal vision of what we would like to happen in our lives. Our visions need to be set on the temple and if our eyes are set on the temple we will do what we need to to accomplish that. Well, sorry I don't have a lot of time but I want to do a shout out to my dad! because now he's completing 30 years old!;) haha

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! I love you and that you can have a good birthday!

Hey family and friends!

How are you guys! First I would like to thank you all for the support and for the prayers that I recieved and that I am doing a lot better. My stomach is getting better and supposedly I need to continue taking the medicine for 1 more week and then I will be able to go back to the hospital and do other exams to see if I still have the bacterial infection or if it has left! That's great news for me!
But this week also was one of the best weeks in the mission...

1) We put 2 new baptismal dates with some people that are natives, (and I say native because they still wear the corte that the old guatemaltecos wore and they speak another language)
2) We completed the goal of the mission this week to contact 105 different people and different contacts, have 15 new investigators and to have 2 new baptismal dates! and to complete the goal of the month is that we need to do that every week and also have 2 baptism this month and we have 3 fechas for this month!
3) We are going to have a secure baptism this week! He told us to announce it in church and that he will be baptised at 7:30 p.m. I'm so glad that he will be baptized! and the best is that he has his vision in the temple!
4) We were talking to a member who has had some problems because her mom was in the hospital and they had to cut off her leg, but her mom isn't a member and when she was in the hospital, the doctors asked her what religion she pertains to and she told them The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! So when she returned to the house to recover from her wound, we had the chance as missionaries and the ward council, to go over to her house and to sing hymns and to share a message with her and she says that when he is better the first thing she is going to do is get baptized. It's was cool and weird because we had 10 members in her house and the bishop talked to her first and told her that she needs to be baptized and she said yes so we will be having a baptism in April or May!!!
Also, we had the opportunity to have divisions with the assistants! and those divisions were... really tiring... haha, we practically walked for a complete 6 hours... haha and we contacted a lot of people and all of the visits that we had fell.... haha even the assistants have bad days!;) but it was fun! I got to know Elder Savage a lot more and even though we didn't have a lot of success we were happy the whole day!
Well, that was my week, and I would like to end with a scripture thats in philippians  4:11-13
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

With all of the temptations, challenges, struggles, we need to learn to be content in all that we suffer, in all that we have, and in all that we recieve. and when we are "full" of blessings or when we are completly happy we need to show our gratitude, because if we don't we won't receive more or we won't recieve his help to help us overcome our struggles. I testify that Jesus Christ lives, I know that he is our Savior. I know that only through him we can be clean, pure and whole. I know that President Monson is a prophet of god! He recieves revelation and he is an instument in the hand of the Lord in every second to do what the Lord would do if he were here.

I love you guys!

Family and friends,

Where can I start? This week has been a long week. Well I will start with that I went to the doctors this week and had some exams done and I have a bacteria in my stomach called H Pylori. Well, with this disease I have been in the house a lot for the pain that I have had in my stomach, but this pain has been bearable but I will need to take medicine for 2 weeks and also I will need to be on a diet of just steamed chicken and vegetables. I can't eat any red meat (cow or pig), I can't eat anything with cheese, or milk, beans (which is the most common food here in Guatemala) and I can't eat fruit unless it is steamed because acidic food causes it to grow...
WOOHOO! the experiences here in the mission are seriously UNFORGETABLE! Haha!

Well other than that, we had other bad news when our investigator Manuel told us that he wants to wait to be baptized. He said he wants to prepare better and he said this week he would like to be baptized. It's hard to see someone so ready, who has paid tithing and who has really changed from the person he was before say that he wants to wait. It's not bad, because I know he will get baptized this month but we hope that he can really feel the need to do it this Saturday!

Well that was my week. Haha, but I will continue getting better and thanks for all the prayers that have been coming my way.

I love you guys so much!
